Get your Artwork featured: 45 of the best art, design and photography blogs

If you’re an artist looking for more attention, submitting to really prestigious art blogs can certainly help you with that. There are hundreds of places online where you can submit your work and get published. Even better, if you make it on to one major art and design blog, you could see your work go viral and get shared amongst many others.

Today I am sharing 45 of the best blogs to showcase your creative work and get noticed. To help even further, I’ve included links where possible to submit. Many have thousands or hundreds of thousand followers with plenting of inspiration.

Just follow the guidelines and you’re on your way. On most you will also be adding your site which creates a backlink for you from high ranking sites…….Win/Win!!!

Art

1. Colossal

Colossal is a Webby-nominated blog that explores art and other aspects of visual culture. There are frequent quirky posts, but generally Colossal is a reminder that in the digital age there are still countless people making incredible work with their bare hands. Want to submit? Send a very brief email with a basic description of your work and attach a few relevant images at least 1,000 pixels wide. File size is not an issue.

2. Booooooom

Booooooom was launched in 2008 by Vancouver-based artist Jeff Hamada. It is Canada’s highest traffic art blog, and one of the largest on the web. The site is an authoritative voice in the new contemporary art scene, highlighting emerging talents, and launching the careers of many young artists internationally. The most effective way to share your work is to post an image and a link to one of the monthly submission posts – you can find the latest one here. Or you can submit your work via his Facebook Wall or Vimeo group.

3. Surface Magazine

Surface is the American magazine of global contemporary design. Founded in 1993, Surface covers the worlds of architecture, art, design, fashion, and travel, with a focus on how these fields shape and are shaped by contemporary culture. Definitely one for you artists to target!

4. Juxtapoz

A beautiful website featuring emerging artists and illustrators, along with the occasional erotic artworks. If you want your work to be considered for publication, then there’s no easy way to submit to Juxtapoz. Perhaps strike up a conversation with managing editor Alex Nicholson on Instagram?

5. Contemporary Art Daily

One of the most famous art blogs, offering a real dose of inspiration to art lovers worldwide. If you want to submit your own art exhibition, then the site has provided official guidelines which request a press release in a PDF format, a checklist – particularly for group shows – and that images are shared via Dropbox or WeTransfer at the highest resolution available.

6. Supersonic Art

A contemporary art blog curated by Zach Tutor, also with a substantial following on Tumblr. If you want to submit, Zach requests that you only provide links to your website/portfolio only.

7. My Modern Met

My Modern Met is where art enthusiasts and trendspotters connect over creative ideas, established in 2008. If you’re an artist keen to share your work with the world – or indeed a photographer or designer – then send the team a short email including details of yourself and your project; a link to your work; two or three images at least 750 pixels wide.

8. Yatzer

Yatzer is a really beautifully designed art and design blog, founded in 2007 by Greek interior designer Costas Voyatzis. Aiming itself at the higher end creative professional, it shares travel, architecture, design, fashion and – you guessed it – art. To submit a project, you have to email them high-resolution images, at least 2,560 pixels wide, along with a decent press release.

9. Hi-Fructose

Hi-Fructose is a quarterly print art magazine, founded by artists Attaboy and Annie Owens in 2005. It also shares lots of art inspiration online via its popular blog. The site offers some detailed submission guidelines for both mediums but simply requests that you email them a link to your work with ‘Submissions’ in the email subject line. Don’t attach anything, and don’t introduce yourself and waffle. Simple.

10. ArtisticMoods

ArtisticMoods is a fun and ambitious blog devoted to serving you daily inspirations from the art world. Here, Sandra Apperloo shares and celebrates art from new and established artists. If you want to be included, then Sandra simply asks that you drop her an email.

11. Aesthetica

Aesthetica is a British art and culture magazine. Founded in 2002, Aesthetica Magazine covers photography, visual art, music, film and theatre. It has a readership of over 284,000 and national and international distribution. The magazine includes features on art, film, music and performance, highlighting notable new exhibitions around the world and showcasing photography. 12. Design Boom

Founded in 1999, Design Boom is the world’s first and most popular digital architecture and design magazine. Despite its habit of writing everything in lower case, it shares some very inspiring creative work and, even better, welcomes submissions. The site has provided some pretty detailed submission guidelines… But if you want a chance to get in front of its four million monthly readers, you’ll have to first register an account with the site. Cross Connect Magazine is a vibrant community comprised of content curators and artists. If you’re searching for a place to discover new art, illustration and photography, look no further. To submit your own work for consideration, click on the link below and fill out the online form.

Design Milk is a design blog featuring interior design ideas, architecture, modern furniture, home decor, art, style, and technology. Founded and run by the ever talented Jaime Derringer. 15. Bored Panda

Bored Panda is a colossal art and design blog, sharing truly inspirational creative work and with a huge global audience. But don’t be surprised to find the odd cute kitten update or unicorn coloured hair post amongst the greatness. This site is a little different from others – you have to register and become a community member before you can ‘add a post’ to submit your own work. It then gets ‘voted up’ by everyone else, and if it’s popular – it’ll appear at the top of the homepage.

The Jealous Curator is an inspiring visual art blog founded by Danielle Krysa in 2009 as a place to show artwork that “made her jealous”. Here you’ll find tons of beautiful work to peruse, but you can also submit your own for consideration.

Graphic Design

18. Creative Review

Creative Review is the magazine for the creative industries. Established as far back as 1980, it’s a respected source of inspiration and commentary. It’s especially popular with graphic designers and has a separate ‘blog’ alongside its printed magazine. Want to submit online? 19. It’s Nice That

It’s Nice That is one of the best blogs on the web, championing creativity across the art and design world. For the best way to get your work in front of the team, fill out the submission form by clicking on the link below. But don’t be disheartened if you don’t make the cut – the site gets over 100 submissions daily and naturally can’t feature everyone.

Design Everywhere is a blog focused on showcasing carefully selected graphic design work. It’s a daily dose of visual inspirations, collected by Preston Tham. If you want to submit your work, you must consider two requirements: quality and aesthetic, and works that are categorised under branding and identity, book, editorial, logo, layout, print, poster and typography. ID features visual identities from designers and studios across the globe. The site attracts around 100,000 monthly page views, and if you want to share a project, the following link will help show you what they like. Just make sure you send some images of your work, at least 1,000 pixels wide – along with some accompanying details of the brief, your idea, typefaces used or customised, paper stock printed on, timeframe and tales of the unexpected.

31. Ape on the Moon

Run by two inter-planetary apes, founded by illustrator Alex Mathers, with illustrator Philip Dennis based in London – Ape on the Moon documents all that is new and exciting about new illustration and the people that create it.

Illustration Age is a blog and professional resource for illustrators. The site regularly features handpicked resources such as online classes, digital tools, competitions and books.

33. Eat Sleep Draw

Eat Sleep Draw was launched in 2007 and has since become the largest user-submitted blog on Tumblr. That means it has a substantial audience and your work needs to be on there. To submit, it’s easy. Illustration Friday is a weekly art challenge as well as an eye-catching blog and a lively, supportive online community that has been growing since 2003. If you want to submit your work for possible inclusion on the IF Blog, you can fill out the form via the link below. They like to receive three or five images with each submission, at least 800 pixels wide – along with a bio or a paragraph about yourself.

36. Brown Paper Bag

Brown Paper Bag is an illustration-loving blog that celebrates the field in its many forms. BPB showcases illustration, and it’s more than just the editorial images you’d see in magazines. Fashion, tattoos, and illustrated products are all important parts of our visual culture and deserve their time to shine. Run by Sara Barnes. For years, Sara accepted email submissions but admits she wasn’t great at reading them. So she now accepts submissions via Tumblr.

37. Feature Shoot

Feature Shoot showcases the work of international emerging and established photographers who are transforming the medium through compelling, cutting-edge projects. With contributing writers from all over the world and a wide range of interests, they feature contemporary work in all genres of photography: fine art, documentary, portrait, still life, landscape and more.

For general submissions, email four or five images at 620 pixels wide, saved for web with no borders or watermarks, and don’t send any zip files. You should also include a short bio and a description of your work. Put ‘Submissions’ in the subject line.

Ain’t-Bad is an independent publisher of new photographic art. Founded in Savannah, Georgia by five emerging photographers. To submit, size your images to 1,000 pixels wide and accompany them with a detailed artist statement and biography, both in the third person, along with a link to your website. Then throw everything into a zip file and upload via the online contact form.

An award-winning online magazine featuring the finest art, design, architecture and photography. To submit, it’s quite simple really. You click on their ‘submit your work’ link and a pop-up will provide a submission form for you to fill in. The site will request up to six images at least 670 pixels wide, along with a description of your work.
