Sell more ART pricing RIGHT

When people enter your website, is it obvious your work is for sale? Sell more ART by pricing it RIGHT!!!

This is another common question. Do I show pricing on my website? Should I have people contact me if they’re interested?

You need to scream “MY WORK IS AVAILABLE!”

No, I’m not crazy. Just because someone found you (hurray!), and loves your artwork (a double hurray!!), doesn’t mean they find it obvious it is available to buy. You have to tell them.

Not only do collectors look, but gallery reps scour too. If they can’t find pricing, they don’t know if you would be a good fit for them. Don’t expect them to contact you, they’re too busy. They just move on to the next site.

Sell more ART pricing RIGHT

Different kinds of artwork needs different formats.

If you are selling fine art priced at $2500 (or more), you don’t want a flashy “add to cart” button next to it. What you can do is have the title under the work, and on the next line, a bit smaller have the medium (be specific), size (H x W x D inches/cm) and price.

A nice description should follow. If they love the piece and the price still works for them, they will read what the art means to you, or how you came about to create it. They fell in love with the piece, now they are falling in love with you as an artist. The next line can be a buy it now button.

At this point some artists would rather have a “how to purchase” link, but be wary on this. If people have to continue to click thru, you may loose them. It is better to add a line after the “buy” button and say something like “if you are considering buying this piece and have any questions, I can be contacted here.

You also will want to have a link to a page that describes framing, and how it is shipped.

If your artwork is priced less, the “buy now” button on the top isn’t inappropriate. Sometimes I sell edition prints priced between $15 – $125, and there doesn’t seem to be a problem with artwork in this group.

Don’t assume people will do whatever it takes to buy from you. Don’t assume they don’t want to buy from you.

You need to constantly make yourself aware of making the buying process EASY.

Everything you do in the marketing area for yourself and within your website improves your opportunities for more sales.
